There are 4 million caregivers across Ontario, providing an estimated 75% of the care to family members, partners, friends, or neighbours. Caregiver well-being has an impact on patient health outcomes – well-supported caregivers are more likely to provide better care. Primary care providers can play a key role in preventing burnout and enhancing caregiver well-being by initiating early interventions and connecting caregivers to support.

Refugee HealthLine: Request for Health Care Providers to Provide Transitional Care for Refugees

The Ministry of Health (the “ministry”) is supporting newly arriving refugees and people arriving through other exceptional humanitarian authorizations (e.g., Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel) by providing a toll-free, multi-lingual, Refugee HealthLine where they can connect with health care providers who deliver services funded by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), the Interim Federal Health Program, or through provincial programs such as transitional health care and services, including but not limited to primary care, specialist care, and mental health supports.

COVID-19 Outpatient Therapies, Vaccination Updates and Other Updates

Dear members,

January has been an incredibly difficult month, and we want to thank you and your teams for all that you have done, and continue to do, for your patients. Encouragingly, the latest update on COVID-19 projections from the Science Table indicates that while hospital and ICU admissions continues to be high, Ontario data shows that vaccination (including third doses) is providing strong protection against serious illness.
