Elgin County will receive nearly $1 million from the provincial government to expand team-based health care in the region.
On Friday, officials with the Thames Valley Family Health Team, alongside Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Rob Flack, announced the funding, calling its impact “transformative.”

A new medical clinic, able to treat two dozen patients every week, opens in Picton and Wellington this month.
Family Health Team Executive Director Barinder Gill was at Shire Hall Tuesday with the details. The clinic will be nurse-practitioner led, and opens Feb. 27.
There are 4 million caregivers across Ontario, providing an estimated 75% of the care to family members, partners, friends, or neighbours. Caregiver well-being has an impact on patient health outcomes – well-supported caregivers are more likely to provide better care. Primary care providers can play a key role in preventing burnout and enhancing caregiver well-being by initiating early interventions and connecting caregivers to support.
