Climate Change is a Health Issue: adopting a Green Health Strategy at your Team

Thu, June 06, 2024
Virtual Webinar 12-1pm EST

Hosted by AFHTO, Guelph FHT and Hamilton FHT

Objectives

Primary Care Practices can adopt climate change strategies to address the significant health impacts associated with environmental degradation.

Climate change is the current greatest population health concern. Environmental changes resulting from climate change include: wildfires, water and air pollution, and extreme weather and temperature trends. As a result, we are experiencing more disease, allergies, malnutrition, heat stress and other health-related concerns. Healthcare is a major source of carbon emissions, contributing to climate change.

The good news is there is action we can all take to do our part to reduce our carbon emissions. By integrating climate change strategies into their practices, primary care providers can enhance patient care, offering preventative measures, early detection of climate-related health risks, and education on adaptation strategies. Additionally, promoting sustainable Healthcare practices within Primary Care settings can reduce their own environmental footprint, contributing to broader efforts to mitigate climate change and protect public health for current and future generations.

It's time to take Climate Action! Register and attend the webinar below to hear from two FHTs that have incorporated Green Initiatives into their Green Healthcare strategy.
