Dear colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Leslie Sorensen will join Association of Family Health Teams of Ontario as the Chief Executive Officer, effective October 23, 2023. Her appointment follows an extensive executive search conducted in recent months.
Leslie is currently the Director Corporate Quality, Risk and Privacy at Spectrum Health Care. Her extensive knowledge and experience in developing strategic, business and operational plans for Family Health Teams across the province, as well as working collaboratively with administrators, physicians, interprofessional teams and partners in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic and operating plans to deliver high quality programs and services that align with the organization’s vision, mission and strategic directions will make Leslie a strong asset to AFHTO.
She has held executive positions with various health care partners and has worked with government and partners to develop policies, facilitate change and manage multi-million dollar budgets. She has led initiatives focused on system performance, organizational accountability and quality improvement. Leslie’s leadership navigating complex health care environments will be a strong asset to AFHTO as we press forward with numerous major initiatives to promote high quality comprehensive team-based primary care.
Leslie acquired a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy that is complemented by a Master of Health Science in Health Administration and holds a Certified Health Executive designation from the Canadian College of Health Leaders. As an advocate for quality team-based patient and family-centred care, focused on enhancing patient, family and care provider experience, Leslie has had great success developing, implementing and evaluating high quality programs collaboratively with administrators, physicians and interprofessional teams.
