Objectives
We are holding our 2024 Northwestern Ontario Palliative Care Conference on October 2nd at the Superior Inn in Thunder Bay. This one-day conference will also be available virtually for anyone who cannot make the journey to our city. We also offer virtual group rates should you wish to host a hub viewing for your team!
Though your team may not work directly with people who are at end-of-life, the purpose of this conference is to educate primary care workers on the importance of early identification of palliative care needs. We have a variety of speakers who will be discussing topics such as:
- Advancing equity in palliative care for Indigenous peoples' and people who face structural vulnerabilities
- Empowering your patients when navigating a life-limiting condition
- Pain & symptom management
- Palliative care in the era of MAiD and requests for a hastened death
Additionally, beginning at 5:30 pm, we have an exclusive evening symposium that is open to physicians, NPs and NOSM U Learners titled, "Responding to Expressions of Distress: The Advanced Application of the Palliative Approach to Care." This event is also offered virtually, however, in-person registration includes dinner.
