The newly renovated Ripley Medical and Childcare Centre is now fully operational and ready to serve the community.

“The grand opening of the Ripley Medical and Childcare Centre represents a pivotal moment for our community. It reinforces our commitment to accessible healthcare and quality childcare options for our residents. With these renovations, we’re proud to welcome back Dr. Murray and the Kincardine Family Health Team and to provide much-needed support for local families. This is a shining example of collaboration at its best, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together,” said Don Murray, mayor of Huron-Kinloss, in a Jan. 6 news release.

Developed in partnership with the Kincardine Family Health Team (KFHT), Dr. Jason Murray, YMCA of Owen Sound Grey-Bruce, County of Bruce, Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), and Province of Ontario, the facility addresses critical needs by offering additional licensed childcare spaces and revitalized medical services for Ripley and the surrounding area.

Dr. Murray will begin treating his patients at the Ripley Medical Centre on Fridays, and the KFHT will operate the unattached patient clinic on Mondays and Thursdays, serving individuals without a local family physician. In addition, a variety of KFHT programs and interdisciplinary providers will visit weekly, including midwife, occupational therapist, dietitian, kinesiologist, and registered nurse.

Services are available by appointment only, with no walk-in or same-day options. Appointments can be made by calling 519-396-2700. For more information about the KFHT services, visit kincardinefht.ca.

The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey-Bruce reopened its updated licensed childcare services at the location on Sept. 4, featuring a reimagined floor plan with brighter, more spacious rooms.

The improved facility now accommodates 15 toddlers and 24 preschoolers, increasing its previous capacity of 10 toddlers and 16 preschoolers, while continuing to provide safe, affordable, and accessible childcare for families, the release said.

The renovations were made possible with financial contributions from the NWMO Near-Term Investment Fund, the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Childcare Start-up Grant, Miller Insurance and the Community Well-Being Reserve Fund.
