Fri, November 27, 2020

Hosted by the OMA, OMA women and SGFP

The Ontario Medical Association would like to invite you to attend “Healing the Gender Gap,” a panel discussion and Q and A about gender issues in medicine

  • Dr. Sharon Straus, physician-in-chief at St. Michael’s Hospital;
  • Dr. Gianna Lorello, an anesthesiologist at Toronto Western Hospital and the inaugural chief diversity officer for the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Toronto;
  • Dr. Tara Kiran, a family physician at St. Michael’s and the Fidani Chair in Improvement and Innovation; and
  • Dr. Michelle Cohen, a family physician in Brighton and an assistant professor in the Queen's Dept of Family Medicine

Drs. Kiran and Cohen co-authored a widely quoted paper in the CMAJ this summer on the pay gap between male and female physicians. CBC Journalist Anna Maria Tremonti, former host of The Current, will moderate the evening, which will also include entertainment by the Voices Rock Medicine choir of female physicians and Ottawa cardiac surgeon Dr. Frank Rubens and palliative care physician Dr. Carol Wiebe, a classically trained opera singer and pianist respectively.

This free Zoom event will take place Friday, Nov. 27, from 7-9 p.m. You can register here. You do not need an OMA number.
