Position Summary:

The Finance Manager, under the direction of the Executive Director, will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of accounting operations.  This includes accounting and administrative controls and the drafting of necessary reports for corporate compliance. 

Main Responsibilities and Position Objectives:

  • Facilitate any auditing conducted by third parties to ensure effective resolution and swift closure of auditing activities
  • Ensure organization utilizes ethical accounting practices and standards
  • Investigate variances in budgets, reporting, internal controls and general accounting; deploy measures to resolve variances
  • Analyze variable costs and recommend budget adjustments as appropriate
  • Implement financial activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, payroll, special projects accounting, financial planning, and reporting
  • Process and ensure the integrity of payroll, T4s, ROEs, and Group Benefit Plan payments
  • Assist in the preparation of the operating budget
  • Take responsibility of all aspects of the audit function in the organization and develop auditing techniques to meet changing needs
  • Monitor applicable legislation, regulations, policies, procedures and operations, and ensure compliance
  • Complete necessary Canada Revenue Agency reporting ie. HST/GST Return, EHT Return, Charitable Tax Return
  • Complete necessary Ministry of Health reporting ie. Quarterly Reporting, Annual Reporting, In-year Requests
  • Ensure that all employees comply with company financial policies, procedures and ethical standards
  • Develop and maintain accounting files and records
  • Manage relationships with suppliers for contracted services



  • A degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Professional accounting designation
  • Minimum 1 year of related work experience in a not-for-profit, healthcare or health regulatory environment preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheet programs and applications; specifically Quickbooks
  • Excellent analytical and financial reporting skills
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience leading and administering payroll, specifically using ADP
