The Harbourview Health Family Health Team is one of 180 family health teams across the Province of Ontario working towards a vision that all Ontarians will have timely access to high-quality, comprehensive team-based primary care in their local community. The Harbourview FHT is committed to improving health care for our patients by being a leader in creative health care initiatives and maintaining a system that will maximize the resources that are available for patient care.
The FHT is composed a group of physicians and allied health professionals working to improve the health of our 15,000 patients by treatment, prevention, identification, and management of disease. The Allied Health Professional team includes registered nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, and a dietitian. The Family Health Team works in partnership with the Harbourview Family Health Organization (FHO) which is currently represented by 10 physicians providing comprehensive primary care to patients from Thunder Bay and the surrounding region. The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership and effective operational management to both organizations.
We are seeking to recruit a practical and collaborative leader who will support the Board and staff in developing a long-term strategic direction for the FHT and provide administrative leadership and day-to-day management of the organization. The position reports directly to the Board Chair/Lead Physician and works closely with the Board to achieve the objectives of the organization. As a strategic thinker, the ED will have a good understanding of the current and future role of primary care as it relates to Thunder Bay and the role it will play in the emergence of the Ontario Health Teams.
In the day to day operation of the clinic, the Executive Director must effectively manage operational issues relating to Human Resource Management, Building and infrastructure, IT reliability and Government relations.
The ED will have a university degree or diploma in health sciences, health or business administration or a related field, and at least five years of experience in a management or professional leadership role. The ED will possess excellent communications, public relations and interpersonal skills as well as being able to demonstrate strong analytical and conceptual skills and a focus on quality improvement. The ED will be an accomplished team builder and team leader who can bring out the best in all members of the team and foster a culture of success through teamwork.
