Position: Digital Health/Information Technology Specialist
(Contract with end date of March 31, 2022 $73 to $80,000.00 Annual Salary– No benefits)
Reports To: Digital Health Information Manager
Position Summary:

Ontario Health Teams are part of the government’s plan to build a modern, sustainable and integrated health care system that connects health care providers and services focused on the patient. Digital Health is at the core of a more connected and integrated health care system. The technical specialist role will become key to fostering local innovation and provincial digital health advancements. At maturity, Ontario Health Teams will have the ability to provide patients digital choices such as virtual care and timely digital access to patient health records.

Ontario Health Teams will provide a new way of organizing and delivering services in local communities to enable integrated health care. The right combination of digital health services and tools will be the key to supporting seamless and efficient delivery of care.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Couchiching OHT:

  • Learn and understand the digital health landscape in Ontario
  • Understand the capabilities and benefits of digital health for providers and patients
  • Learn how the Provincial Digital Health Playbook can support local Couchiching OHT planning
  • Understand what digital assets, tools, programs and services are available through the OHT Digital Health Services Catalogue
  • Understand the provincial digital health tools and maturity targets for the Couchiching OHT
  • Guide the procurement, implementation and evaluation of digital health solution
  • Support of the new OHT model of care from a Digital Health perspective
  • Support providers to access and contribute to provincial health data repositories and directories
  • Analyze information, proposals and digital health requests
  • Project Coordination between anchor partners
  • Review and give input for any new funding or proposals
  • Digitally Enabled Information Sharing. Ensure patient information is shared securely and digitally across OHT anchor partners
  • Virtual Care. Understand and build off existing digital capabilities to further expand virtual offerings. (Leverage provincial assets and/or third party vendors)
  • Digital Access to Information. Understand and build off existing digital capabilities to provide patients access to their health information
  • Digital Quality Improvement. Digital health tools and information to drive quality and performance improvement. Build capabilities at a team level. Shared Quality Improvement Plan, Lead an OHT wide integrated data quality group

CFHT:

  • Maintain Practice Solutions Server
  • Software and Hardware maintenance
  • Offer technical support to CFHT staff and troubleshoot computer issues
  • Setting up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices
  • Installing and configuring appropriate software and functions according to specifications
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
  • Identify computer and network equipment shortages and place orders
  • Custom Forms update issues and notification to CFHT staff
  • SR Fax maintenance
  • Monthly Audits
  • Maintain an up-to-date tracking system for all computers including serial numbers, malware, operating system, age of computer etc.

Couchiching OHT and CFHT:

  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
  • Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures
  • Work in compliance with Health and Safety laws adhering to safe work practices and procedures established by the CFHT
  • Other duties as required

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience with Information Management Systems and Electronic Medical Records such as CHRIS (Client Health and Related Information System), PS Suite, Nightingale CRM, Procura, Cerner and the secure online portal Health Partner Gateway Platform. Working knowledge of E-Referral and E-Notification and the Connecting Ontario provincial record
  • Maintains and upgrades knowledge and skills
  • Able to manage and establish good relationships within a framework of corporate policies and procedures
  • In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
  • Excellent knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Proven diagnostic and problem-solving skills
     

Education/Specific Job Requirements:

  • Degree in information technology, computer science, computer engineering or information technology management
  • Certification as IT technician (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT professional)
  • Police Record Check
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings if required

Experience:

  • 5 or more years of technical experience as IT technician or relevant position
