Summary/Abstract:
Cybersecurity in healthcare is facing significant challenges due to increasing cyberattacks targeting patient data. Ransomware incidents caused by security vulnerabilities can compromise patient safety, cause delays and disruptions to patient care, and eradicate trust in healthcare institutions. According to the World Economic Forum’s 2022 Global Risks Report, 95% of cybersecurity issues can be traced to human error.     To address this need, a comprehensive self-learning program was developed, tailored to the needs of healthcare professionals, designed to fortify cybersecurity and privacy practices within healthcare settings. Co-designed with healthcare professionals, the program addresses the pressing need for heightened awareness and proactive measures against cyber threats with healthcare-specific contexts.    The program is self-paced, with the power to access a wealth of resources ranging from informative courses to supplementary articles and standards. Quizzes and surveys embedded within the program facilitate knowledge appraisal and feedback, ensuring an interactive and adaptive learning experience. The efficacy of the program is underscored by robust evaluation findings, showcasing high learner satisfaction and tangible application of acquired knowledge in real-world scenarios.    Over a thousand of healthcare professionals in Ontario have completed the program, with high levels of satisfaction and confidence to address cybersecurity threats. Moving forward, the program will continue to evolve to meet the emerging cybersecurity needs in the healthcare context.
